Our dedicated team excels in delivering innovative solutions tailored to meet the most challenging requirements of our clients, ensuring optimal results within critical timelines.

The Structures division is in search of a skilled Composite Materials Project Lead to spearhead initiatives focused on pioneering composite structural materials and components. In this capacity, you will formulate technical strategies to capitalize on opportunities within the composites sector, advancing these strategies from initial concept through to commercialization, while collaborating closely with clients, partners, and other key stakeholders. You will work in tandem with the Structures team and across various technical disciplines within Triton Systems to address intricate challenges.

The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of composite design principles, including reinforcement and matrix selection, laminate mechanical properties, and the development of manufacturing processes. A strong grasp of composites analysis principles, such as stress analysis, non-destructive inspection (NDI/NDE), destructive testing, and failure analysis is essential.

Hands-on experience in composite fabrication is required, with proficiency in at least one of the following: laminated prepreg structures, infused structures (VARTM, HPRTM, RFI), filament winding, automated tape laying (ATL/AFP), thermoplastic molding, or high-temperature composites (PI, BMI, C-C, CMC, C/SiC). Familiarity with industry best practices for composite manufacturing and quality management is expected.

Experience in composites development programs is crucial, particularly in creating or modifying materials and processes to enhance performance or broaden capabilities. A commitment to high standards in experimental design, execution, documentation, and communication is anticipated.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, fabricate, and evaluate fiber-reinforced composite materials to fulfill application specifications.
  • Interpret technical drawings to optimize mold and component designs.
  • Lead the testing and assessment of materials.
  • Conduct failure analysis.
  • Review design plans for objectives such as strength, weight, and cost efficiency.
  • Develop and implement design-of-experiments methodologies.
  • Collaborate with external testing facilities and materials suppliers.
  • Prepare technical reports and procedural documentation.
  • Operate independently in a dynamic materials fabrication environment.

Qualifications:

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Materials, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in composite design, fabrication, testing, and analysis, as well as composites research and product development.
  • Proficiency in solid modeling and finite element analysis (FEA) tools (e.g., Solidworks, NASTRAN or equivalent).
  • Competence in standard analytical software, along with proficiency in the Windows operating environment and Office Suite applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.

Due to the sensitive nature of our operations, candidates must be U.S. Citizens and may undergo a security investigation.

We offer a competitive salary along with a comprehensive benefits package.
