Job Role
We are expanding our team and looking for a Lead Traffic Engineering Specialist to join our New England Traffic Engineering division, working on a variety of engaging projects of different scales.
This position offers a unique opportunity to gain extensive experience while also mentoring junior engineers.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Lead Traffic Engineering Specialist, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
1. **Traffic Task Management** – Develop scopes and budgets; oversee staffing, scheduling, changes, issues, quality, and financials.
2. **Client Engagement** – Actively participate in project meetings with clients.
3. **Business Development Support** – Engage in professional organizations, connect with potential clients, and assist in proposal development.
4. **Collaboration** – Work closely with Transportation Planners and Civil Engineers on multi-disciplinary projects.
5. **Traffic Engineering Documentation** – Create plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for traffic signals, signage, pavement markings, roundabouts, and traffic management strategies.
6. **Construction Services** – Provide oversight for Traffic Engineering projects, including reviewing submissions and offering field guidance.
7. **Technical Reporting** – Prepare comprehensive technical reports and conduct various traffic and parking studies, along with transportation planning analyses.
8. **Project Support** – Assist in both design-bid-build and design-build initiatives.
9. **Industry Awareness** – Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in the traffic engineering field.
10. **Mentorship** – Guide and support junior Traffic Engineers in their professional development.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Over 8 years of experience in the field.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Familiarity with Adaptive Signal Control, Transit Signal Priority, and other traffic signal technologies.
- Proficiency in traffic simulation software, such as VISSIM.
- Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) Certification.
