Position Overview

The Respiratory Therapist provides comprehensive respiratory care to patients across various health conditions through thorough assessment, strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of tailored respiratory care plans. As a vital member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Respiratory Therapist delivers direct patient care and prepares patients for ongoing care post-discharge.

Minimum Educational Requirements

  • Graduation from a CoARC accredited Associate Degree program in Respiratory Therapy.

Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 months of experience as a Respiratory Therapist at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Current Vermont State licensure.
  • BLS Certification from the American Heart Association.
  • ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications to be obtained within 60 days of employment.
  • Registration as a Respiratory Therapist (not applicable to therapists hired prior to a specified date).
  • Completion of a Cardiac Dysrhythmia course (Stress Testing Therapist).
  • Completion of STABLE course.

Essential Skills and Competencies

  • Preferred basic EKG interpretation skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of respiratory care assessment and mechanical ventilation management.
  • Ability to administer surfactants to neonates.
  • Proficient understanding of respiratory equipment and Heliox usage.
  • Completion of clinical competencies for endotracheal intubation and other required skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Windows applications and navigation.
  • Willingness to be on-call and work varied shifts (nights, weekends, and holidays) as needed.
  • Capability to perform cardiac stress tests during day shifts.
  • Expertise in delivering high-quality direct clinical care.
  • Strong critical thinking skills applicable to all facets of patient care.
  • Effective conflict resolution abilities.
  • Leadership skills to guide shifts in the absence of supervisory staff.

Compensation Details

Pay Range: $39.98; Hiring Bonus Agreement: $10,000.00

Competitive Differential Rates

  • $4.25 - Evenings
  • $8.00 - Nights
  • $4.75 - Weekends
