Position Overview: The Energy Operations Technician will be responsible for the routine oversight and maintenance of condensate return systems. This role involves regular monitoring, minor repairs, and effective communication with both customers and plant personnel. Additionally, the technician will document any significant repairs for the Maintenance team to address.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular inspections of condensate equipment, ensuring operational data is accurately documented and controls are adjusted as needed.
  • Supervise the functionality of condensate return systems across various facilities.
  • Quickly identify and resolve operational challenges to enhance equipment reliability and optimize system performance.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of the Utility Service Agreement and enforce compliance with customer obligations regarding condensate return.
  • Perform minor repairs related to electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation systems.
  • Execute sampling and testing of condensate within both customer and company systems.
  • Support equipment shutdowns and startups, adhering to standard lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining equipment cleanliness and operational readiness.
  • Contribute to the creation and revision of standard operating procedures.
  • Provide support for overhead distribution piping systems.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned, including record keeping and inspections.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and protocols.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of four years of experience in steam plant operations or maintenance, particularly with steam distribution and condensate return systems.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills, both conceptual and practical.
  • Strong communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Mechanical aptitude and proficiency in system diagnostics.
  • Capability to interpret blueprints or CAD drawings.
  • Familiarity with procedures, work instructions, and safety/environmental regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness to learn and become proficient in various industrial software applications within a short timeframe.

Work Environment:

  • Work may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions, including both high and low temperatures.
  • Travel between different facilities is required, and work will take place in environments with moderate noise levels. Appropriate safety gear must be worn at all times.

Physical Requirements:

  • Job duties may require bending, walking, or carrying equipment. The ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds is necessary.
  • A valid driver's license is required, along with the willingness to travel using a company or personal vehicle.
