About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Grants Specialist to join our team at the American Red Cross. As a key member of our fundraising department, you will play a critical role in establishing best-in-class donor cultivation, engagement, and stewardship resources and processes that retain and grow donor investment in our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and write grant proposals to secure funding from foundations, government agencies, and corporations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue through workplace giving campaigns and grant proposals.
  • Enhance relationships with foundations and government agencies to support funding needs.
  • Work closely with colleagues across departments to ensure that our organization takes full advantage of programmatic funding opportunities.
  • Maintain grant proposals and reporting calendar, and personally responsible for researching and writing grant proposals and reports.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis and exploration to advise others on suitable foundations, agencies, or corporations for funding needs.
  • Gather and analyze data for donor communications, including service delivery statistics, financial information, impact stories, and community profiles.
  • Create donor stewardship reports and author various donor communications.
  • Implement best practices on workplace giving for United Way and other foundations.
  • Provide guidance and collaborate with leaders to develop and execute strategies to build grantor relationships, streamline the grant process, and increase support.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency in use of Personal Computer, word-processing, spreadsheet applications, and database applications when applicable.
  • Ability to work on a team.
  • Knowledge of office systems: MS Office preferred and fundraising database systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge) a plus.
  • Travel: May include occasional travel and participation in meetings and conferences throughout chapter jurisdiction, state, and Red Cross system.
  • A current, valid driver's license with good driving record is required.
