About Our Organization

The Community Economic Defense Project (CEDP) is a nonprofit organization based in Colorado, established in response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our initiative was originally launched to prevent evictions and has since evolved into a comprehensive support system for those facing housing insecurity. We provide a holistic approach to issues such as eviction, foreclosure, and homelessness prevention, focusing on the legal and financial needs of affected families.

Currently, our team assists over 1,000 individuals monthly, uniting experts in law, economics, data analysis, policy, and technology to effectively serve our clients. Over the past two years, we have allocated more than $100 million in aid, impacting over 40,000 residents in Colorado. Our model has received recognition as a best practice by various esteemed organizations.

In addition to our eviction prevention efforts, CEDP has broadened its service offerings to include disaster response, predatory towing, debt collection, benefit access, long-term rental assistance, and homelessness intervention. These initiatives provide a comprehensive support system that encompasses advisory services, targeted financial assistance, legal support, and advocacy opportunities.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Manage the financial operations related to grants and contracts, ensuring adherence to all compliance requirements, including financial reporting and budgetary constraints.
  • Maintain precise and current records of all financial transactions associated with grants.
  • Prepare and submit accurate financial reports to funding agencies in a timely manner. Assist in the creation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, offering necessary data and analysis to program managers and finance personnel.
  • Contribute to the development of grant budgets and financial projections. Monitor budget performance, conduct variance analysis, and collaborate with program managers to ensure compliance and address potential financial concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including OMB Uniform Guidance for federal grants. Prepare for and assist with grant audits by providing required documentation and addressing auditor inquiries.
  • Track and report on both restricted and unrestricted funds. Prepare and submit invoices and reimbursement requests to funding sources, and oversee the financial closeout process for grants and contracts.
  • Assist in the establishment, implementation, and monitoring of internal controls related to grant management, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Process grant-related invoices and payments accurately and promptly. Manage grant receivables, including invoicing, collections, and reconciliations.
  • Collaborate closely with program managers, finance team members, and other stakeholders to facilitate grant administration. Clearly communicate grant-related financial information to relevant parties.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in grant billing.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience with General Ledger.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain organization and attention to detail amidst changing priorities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the capability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and deadlines.
