The Lead Tax Specialist will be tasked with directing and supervising all tax-related functions within the organization. This position entails ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local tax laws, enhancing tax strategies, and delivering expert tax guidance to align with the company's financial objectives. Key Responsibilities

The Lead Tax Specialist is accountable for managing and supervising the Company's tax reporting, which includes fuel programs, property tax, and licensing initiatives. Oversee and manage Company reporting programs, including but not limited to Motor Fuels, Washington Clean Fuel Programs, Alcohol and Tobacco Tax Trade Bureau, IRS ExSTARS, and Department of Energy submissions.

  • Examine completed Excise filings, Property Tax returns, and Sales/Use filings to ensure accuracy and timely submission.
  • Verify informational returns for correctness and ensure timely filing.
  • Review completed state and federal exemption certificates.
  • Manage Company Property Tax obligations, including tax filings, tax accrual management, audits, and communications with local assessors. Collaborate with third-party vendors to assist in the completion of protests and appeals as necessary.
  • Oversee Company Excise Tax processing and configuration. Ensure timely review and setup of new customer/products and processes with various stakeholders.
  • Assist in internal and external audits, including preparation of required responses and associated documentation.
  • Support workpaper preparation for disregarded entities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of professional tax/accounting experience.
  • CPA certification is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas Industry or Manufacturing is a plus.
