Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Rotating Equipment Specialist to provide technical support and guidance to our Hydrogen and CO plants. This role will collaborate with Reliability Engineers, Maintenance Mechanical Specialists, and plant personnel to troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade rotating equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Support: Provide engineering support for activating rotating equipment, including compressors, centrifugal pumps, turbines, gearboxes, condition monitoring systems, and ancillary systems.
  • Troubleshooting and Repair: Work closely with Reliability Engineers and Maintenance Mechanical Specialists to troubleshoot rotating equipment issues, develop repair/upgrade plans, and identify root causes to eliminate repetitive failures.
  • Predictive Maintenance: Own the Predictive Maintenance program for rotating equipment, ensuring vibration monitoring programs are robust and providing second-level spectrum analysis support for Reliability Engineers.
  • Industry Standards and Emerging Technologies: Stay updated on applicable industry standards and emerging technologies to ensure our facilities are aligned with requirements, revising internal standards and policies as needed to ensure compliance.
  • Engineering Support: Provide engineering support to facilities to close gaps in Process Safety Information (PSI) and management systems, performing engineering calculations or interfacing with other technical resources to secure required documentation of PSI.
  • Rotating Equipment Upgrades: Support rotating equipment upgrades by managing small capital projects and/or providing technical expertise to Project Managers.
  • On-Site and Remote Support: Provide on-site and remote technical support for mechanical equipment at our facilities.
  • Rotating Equipment Bad Actors: Identify rotating equipment bad actors and chronic failure modes, developing strategies to resolve.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, with 5+ years' experience as a rotating equipment technical resource in a Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated facility.
  • Certifications: Category II certification in Vibration Analysis, Level I in Machine Lubricant Analysis.
  • Skills: Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, both verbal and written; self-starter with ability to work independently and lead cross-functional teams; able to manage multiple priorities, drive issues to completion, and obtain results.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity and experience with multiple types of rotating equipment, experience working within or supporting OSHA PSM-regulated facilities or processes, and knowledge of how mechanical integrity program elements apply to rotating equipment.
  • Preventive and Predictive Maintenance: Proven knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance procedures and practices applicable to a variety of rotating and reciprocating mechanical equipment.
