Role Summary:

As a Mortgage Loan Officer, your mission will be to positively influence the financial journeys of our clients by delivering the latest mortgage insights. Your efforts will focus on expanding the mortgage loan portfolio through the establishment of business agreements, attracting potential mortgage clients, and overseeing the mortgage loan process through to closing. We seek individuals who are not only sales-driven but also possess exceptional client service skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide and inform clients regarding the home purchasing or refinancing process, helping them manage their mortgage requirements effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to mortgage loan operational standards by contributing relevant information to strategic planning and reviews; implement production, quality, and customer service benchmarks; troubleshoot issues; and identify enhancements to the mortgage loan system.
  • Assist in compiling necessary credit information to determine qualifying ranges, taking into account applicants' assets, credit history, and income based on established criteria.
  • Maintain organized records of credit transactions, inquiries, pending loans, and daily loan activities.
  • Generate new mortgage loan applications by building relationships within the community, particularly with real estate professionals, and conducting outreach to prospective clients.
  • Facilitate the completion of mortgage loans by overseeing the collection, verification, and preparation of loan documentation; coordinate and finalize mortgage loan closings.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal and persuasive communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to execute tasks accurately and promptly.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Embrace and advocate for The Michigan First Way, supporting all aspects of it, including fulfilling Our Promise, delivering 5 STARS Service, and embodying our ISMs. Maintain a positive demeanor and professional image in all interactions with team members and clients, consistently reflecting our ISMs in daily performance and business engagements.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics is preferred.
  • Experience in financial software or sales is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated passion, excellent communication skills, self-motivation, and a competitive spirit.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information in both individual and small group settings.
  • Proficient in operating standard office equipment and financial calculation software.
  • Possess skills beyond telemarketing; proficiency in organic lead generation and social media is crucial for long-term success in loan origination.
