Cherry Health is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Behavioral Health Consultant II to join our team. As a key member of our integrated medical care team, you will provide brief mental health and substance abuse interventions to clients in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and diagnose psychopathology, including mental health and/or substance use disorders, according to the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM).
- Utilize evidence-based methods, such as Motivational Interviewing, Brief Action Planning, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to address co-occurring mental health, substance use, and physical health care needs.
- Make referrals internally and externally as needed, coordinating care between providers and therapists, and collaborating with community, referral, and funding sources to provide needed services.
- Participate in regularly-scheduled huddles and case conferences with the treatment team, maintaining current authorizations for service and completing utilization reviews.
- Coordinate with primary care providers and psychiatrists to effectively treat the biological aspects of behavioral health disorders, providing interventions, safety planning, and/or referrals for patients in crisis situations.
- A Master of Social Work (LLMSW) license, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC), or a Limited Licensed Psychologist (TLLP) by the State of Michigan is required.
- CAADC certification through MCBAP or the ability to apply for a Development Plan within 30 days of hire is also required.
- Previous mental health and/or substance abuse assessment and treatment experience is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
