Patient Care Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Specialist to join our team at Commonwealth Pain and Spine. As a key member of our medical office staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and healthcare providers.

  • Perform triage and vital sign checks, including blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, weight, and height.
  • Assist patients with completing designated areas of the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Coordinate blood thinner medications and post-op pain management with cardiologists and surgeons.
  • Monitor provider buckets in Athena and ensure accurate and timely documentation.
  • Provide patient information to providers prior to patient evaluation and introduce patients to providers.
  • Enter patient information and notes into EMR software and scan applicable patient paperwork.
  • Prepare evaluation and procedure rooms for patient encounters and clean rooms post-patient encounters.
  • Perform patient drug screening and prepare patients for pain procedures.
  • Assist providers with pain procedures and care for patients in recovery.
  • Assist patients during check-out and transportation to their vehicles.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional customer service skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately type notes into EMR as providers dictate.
  • Strong computer and phone skills, with the ability to navigate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, coworkers, and patients.
  • Advanced knowledge of healthcare regulatory and compliance policies, including HIPAA.
  • High integrity and ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and positively influence others.
  • Ability to lift patients from procedure tables to wheelchairs and from wheelchairs to cars.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Medical Assistant experience, with a preference for pain management experience.
  • EMR, KASPER, and INSPECT knowledge and experience.

Travel Requirements:

  • Active, valid driver's license and state minimum coverage vehicle insurance.
  • Ability to pass a driving history/motor vehicle check upon hire and maintain an acceptable record.
