The Production Work Preparation role is crucial for managing the production workflow within the SCHUNK manufacturing facility. This position entails generating production orders, updating routing instructions, scheduling and planning orders, assessing capacity, and collaborating with procurement to source necessary components. Additionally, the role involves assisting the manufacturing team with essential equipment for special initiatives and organizing inspection tools. The ideal candidate will partner closely with the production team to guarantee timely and budget-compliant order fulfillment. This role demands exceptional organizational abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to thrive in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create production orders for the manufacturing team, including but not limited to:
- Assess stock levels and order requirements to schedule production in alignment with capacity.
- Evaluate parts and specifications to determine the manufacturing process for seamless production flow.
- Develop inspection documentation based on engineering specifications and manufacturing requirements.
- Track production orders within the ERP system throughout their lifecycle.
- Review and finalize production records for completed orders to ensure accuracy.
- Collaborate with the purchasing team and external vendors to outsource specific operations as necessary.
- Monitor the production schedule and communicate any changes to relevant departments.
- Analyze production metrics to identify improvement opportunities and support continuous enhancement initiatives.
- Work alongside the quality team to ensure proper gauging is available and assist with calibration, repairs, or replacements.
- Maintain inventory levels in the manufacturing stock and tool crib locations.
- Contribute to the SCHUNK quality program by adhering to quality standards and operating procedures.
- Provide regular updates to management regarding key production metrics.
Qualifications:
- General understanding of Metric and English measurement systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, part specifications, and assembly instructions.
- Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Ability to work independently with robust problem-solving skills.
- Capacity to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced team setting.
- Proactive in recognizing areas needing support and willing to assist.
- Ability to develop an understanding of the component manufacturing and sales industry related to SCHUNK product lines.
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in a technical field or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
- Experience with SAP is preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and SharePoint systems is advantageous, particularly Excel for data analysis and visualization.
Language Proficiency:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as catalogs, technical drawings, and operational manuals.
- Capability to follow instructions provided in oral, written, or diagrammatic form.
- Effective communication skills to present information and respond to inquiries from various stakeholders.
- Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation.
Reasoning Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret various documents including catalogs and operational instructions.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to execute instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in PC applications, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and internet-based systems.
