Role Overview:
The Staff Engineer II within the Innovations (Gen AI) team is a pivotal position responsible for driving initiatives related to AI engineering and development, aligning with the bank's strategic objectives in AI. This role is hands-on, working closely with AI architects to establish a robust AI development framework, set standards, and demonstrate the potential value of AI through innovative solutions. This position allows for engagement with cutting-edge technologies and trends, enabling impactful contributions to the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Possess a foundational understanding of business processes across various segments, focusing on implementing innovative solutions that leverage Generative AI to achieve business outcomes.
  • Design, develop, and execute AI programs utilizing Azure services, with an emphasis on Generative AI technologies.
  • Assess and select suitable AI tools and models for various tasks, while also developing and training operational versions of these models using Azure services and OpenAI frameworks.
  • Gain insights into the bank's data ecosystem; identify relevant datasets and appropriate data representation methods to support AI initiatives.
  • Develop and manage AI pipelines, conduct machine learning evaluations, and implement controls to monitor model performance and address identified risks.
  • Analyze and compare the application of different Generative AI models across various modalities.
  • Review the existing solution portfolio to identify opportunities for Generative AI enhancements.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to clarify AI project requirements and ensure alignment with overarching business objectives.
  • Promote and support the transition towards Agile and DevOps/FinOps delivery methodologies.
  • Contribute to the establishment of best practices and standards for Generative AI development within the organization.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years in information technology, with at least 3 years in application design and delivery; experience in Financial Services is advantageous.
  • Strong software development and design background with a technology-focused upbringing.
  • Proficient in full-stack development, with recent experience in implementing LLM Models and/or predictive AI/Generative AI.
  • Hands-on experience in developing Predictive AI models.
  • Practical knowledge of Azure services, including Azure AI Search, Azure Open AI, Azure Functions, and App Services, particularly in the context of AI application development.
  • Solid understanding of data structures, databases, and data types, including structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
  • Familiarity with Agile principles and development methodologies, as well as Azure DevOps.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with a capacity for critical and creative thinking to devise innovative AI solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of producing content for and engaging with various architecture, engineering, and scrum teams.
  • Data-driven decision-making mindset, prioritizing analysis and proof of concept results.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment and lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, systems analysis, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in Generative AI implementation, with expertise in Azure technologies and services.
  • Good understanding of Prompt Engineering and various LLM models available in the market.
