Position Overview

This role is dedicated to overseeing the daily functions of our before and after school programs. The individual will play a crucial part in ensuring a safe and engaging environment for children and will work closely with staff, parents, and the community.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Site Coordinator is responsible for managing the daily operations of the after school program, ensuring a positive experience for children, staff, and parents. This role requires active leadership during program hours.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitate the implementation of program activities.
  • Coordinate schedules for vendors and field trips.
  • Prepare monthly lesson plans for review.
  • Supervise on-site program activities.
  • Manage licensing documentation.
  • Maintain accurate program rosters and generate reports.
  • Assist in recruiting and orienting families to the program.
  • Communicate with parents regarding program activities and policies.
  • Collaborate with staff to address children's behavioral and learning needs.
  • Ensure medical attention is provided to children as needed.
  • Teach classes in the absence of the assistant teacher.
  • Enforce safety standards and emergency procedures.
  • Participate in swim lessons with children.
  • Oversee a team of program staff.
  • Conduct audits of timesheets and assist with performance evaluations.
  • Support the recruitment of a diverse workforce.
  • Delegate tasks and manage staff performance.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the YMCA.

COMPENSATION

$21.77 per hour; Part-Time, Non-Exempt (up to 25 hours/week)

QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor's Degree in a child-related field is required, along with three to five years of relevant experience working with youth. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations are essential. Proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • State of Michigan criminal background clearance.
  • Blood Borne Pathogen training.
  • CPR Certification within the first 60 days.
  • First Aid Certification within the first 60 days.
  • AED-Oxygen Certification within the first 60 days.
  • Fingerprinting and TB Test.
