Key Responsibilities
- Assist in executing program activities and events.
- Coordinate schedules for vendors and field trips.
- Prepare monthly lesson plans for review.
- Supervise on-site program activities.
- Manage licensing documentation.
- Maintain accurate participant rosters and generate reports.
- Support the recruitment and orientation of children and families.
- Communicate with parents regarding program activities and policies.
- Address behavioral or learning challenges with staff and recommend solutions.
- Ensure medical care is provided for ill or injured children as per guidelines.
- Step in for teaching duties when necessary.
- Enforce safety standards and emergency procedures to ensure participant safety.
- Engage in swim lessons with children.
- Oversee a team of 2-10 program staff.
- Conduct performance reviews and manage staff-related issues.
- Support the recruitment of a diverse workforce.
- Delegate tasks and manage staff performance.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids.
Compensation
Hourly rate: $21.77; Part-Time, Non-Exempt (up to 25 hours/week)

Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree in a child-related field (such as early childhood education or elementary education) is required, along with three to five years of relevant experience working with youth. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish are preferred. A passion for working with children aged 5-15 is essential.
Certifications Required:
- State of Michigan criminal background clearance
- Blood Borne Pathogen training
- CPR Certification within the first 60 days
- First Aid Certification within the first 60 days
- AED-Oxygen Certification within the first 60 days
- Fingerprinting and TB Test
- DHS clearance

Local travel within the state of Michigan may be required (5 - 15%).
