Staff Payroll Accountant

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process payroll information from timekeeping source systems.
  • Import, proof, edit, and transmit payroll wages, bonuses, and deductions in compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws.
  • Ensure timely submission and processing of payroll with proper backup and adherence to deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate payroll files and backup consistent with company policy.
  • Review new hire setups and final checks for employees leaving the company to ensure correct rates and deductions.
  • Process garnishments in a timely manner and respond to both the garnishing agency and the employee being garnished.
  • Assist with payouts of special pay programs and complete account reconciliations for payroll-related accounts.
  • Calculate and research federal, state, and local payroll tax liability and update changes.
  • Assist with year-end payroll tasks and respond to payroll inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Communicate regularly with employees at all levels of the organization about payroll practices.
  • Establish and maintain a reliable and productive relationship with remote locations.
  • Review payroll practices on a regular basis to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 2-4 years of accounting and/or payroll experience.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Deltek CostPoint ERP system experience is strongly preferred.
  • US citizenship or ability to obtain a security clearance due to requirements of a classified program.
