Overview

Under supervision, conducts assessments of residential properties for adherence to Housing Regulations; performs additional related tasks as necessary.

NOTE:

Responsibilities:

Key Duties:
Evaluates residential units for compliance with Housing Regulations, addresses complaints regarding Housing Code violations, and compiles reports on findings.

Reassesses properties, conducts thorough inspections of residential units both internally and externally, and documents violations on standardized forms.

Handles investigations prompted by complaints regarding inadequate heating, unsanitary conditions, visual appearance, overcrowding, and similar issues.

Drafts and submits reports of inspections conducted.

May capture photographic evidence of both interior and exterior conditions of residences for documentation purposes.

Maintains vital records and documentation.


Will be expected to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems employed by the agency, office, or related entities.


Qualifications:

Requirements:

Experience:

A minimum of one (1) year of experience in property inspection, building maintenance, construction oversight, or related fields involving building structures and/or repairs.


Education:
High School Diploma is mandatory; relevant professional training or higher education is preferred.

License:
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license.

Knowledge & Skills:
Understanding of the challenges associated with conducting investigations for Housing Code violations.

Ability to grasp established rules and regulations of moderate complexity.

Capability to interview individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Skill in employing tact and courtesy during investigations.

Ability to observe and identify significant conditions.

Proficiency in report preparation.

Ability to maintain essential records and documentation.


Competence in utilizing various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related entities.

Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
