Route Sales Representative

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified Route Sales Representative to join our team at Herr Foods Inc. in Edison, NJ. As a key member of our Direct Store Delivery (D.S.D.) team, you will be responsible for selling, delivering, and merchandising Herr's brand snack foods to grocery retail and independent chain stores.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sell and deliver Herr's brand snack foods to customers, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of products.
  • Build relationships with key decision makers and provide excellent customer service to increase sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Progressively increase current customer sales volume by inquiring about customer needs, communicating product knowledge, and suggestive selling.
  • Execute company-sponsored promotional programs by acquiring temporary and incremental product displays, shelving, and racks.
  • Rotate and provide credit to accounts for stale or damaged items to ensure the freshest product is delivered to customers.
  • Process orders by entering product codes into hand-held computers and collect cash from customers, accurately processing associated invoices.
  • Manage daily accuracy of product inventory and conduct daily pre-trip vehicle safety inspections to maintain a clean truck.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license in the current state of residence.
  • Must have an excellent driving record with no more than 2 moving violations within the past 3 years and no DUIs within the past 3 years.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and pass a job-related assessment with a score of 70% or better.
  • Able to read, write, understand, and speak English, and possess a stable work history with good references.
  • Display evidence of sound judgment and the ability to adapt quickly to different work and driving conditions.
