Overview: The primary role of the Electrical and Instrumentation Technician is to effectively install, troubleshoot, clean, inspect, calibrate, and maintain electrical and instrumentation systems within the facility, ensuring operations are conducted safely and professionally.

Key Responsibilities: To excel in this position, an individual must competently perform each critical duty. Additional minor tasks may be assigned as necessary.

  • Oversee and sustain facility equipment to guarantee safe and efficient operation.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, repairs, and calibration of electrical systems in compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.
  • Utilize and interpret technical documentation such as P&IDs, loop diagrams, and motor schematics.
  • Access and analyze PLC/DCS control logic to identify and resolve issues with minimal supervision.
  • Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of steam plant systems related to power generation, including turbine generator controls.
  • Initiate and finalize work orders, documenting all relevant information regularly.
  • Respond to emergency repair needs during off-hours as required.
  • Travel to various company facilities for technical support when necessary.
  • Proactively identify and address opportunities for improvement.
  • Assume greater responsibilities as needed and perform less skilled tasks when requested.
  • Complete all corporate and plant training programs within the designated timeframe.
  • Identify and effectively utilize basic and precision measuring tools for maintenance tasks.
  • Adhere to standard safety protocols, promptly reporting any hazards to the Shift Supervisor.
  • Understand and apply safety procedures, job hazard analyses, and maintenance instructions.
  • Be available for overtime and rotating shifts during outages or as needed.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, utilizing various communication methods.
  • Anticipate and troubleshoot typical equipment issues, taking appropriate corrective actions.
  • Operate various equipment, including industrial forklifts and manlifts.
  • Assist in the training and development of junior E&I technicians.
  • Demonstrate proficient skills in using and maintaining hand tools and portable power tools.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance within the industrial or power sector, or at least 2 years as a 2nd or 3rd class E&I Technician.
  • Licenses as required to comply with regulatory agencies.

  • Ability to operate fire extinguishing equipment as necessary.
  • Access to confined spaces and pressure vessels as required.
