Job Description

**Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Coding Auditor, Facility Specialist to join our team at Veracity. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and compliance of medical coding practices within our facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough medical record reviews to identify areas of improvement and ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.
  • Assign accurate and appropriate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services rendered, utilizing ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and HCPCS/CPT classification systems.
  • Utilize electronic patient data systems and clinical information systems to access patient encounter information and abstract clinical data elements.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of CMS HCC Risk Adjustment coding and data validation requirements.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to obtain clarification on diagnoses and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date on coding and regulatory publications, attending workshops and training sessions to stay current on industry developments.
  • Participate in special projects and contribute to the development of organizational procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a directly related coding field or 18 months within the Healthcare Apprentice program.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Registered Health Information Technician Certificate, Registered Health Information Administrator Certificate, or Certified Coding Specialist certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of disease processes, diagnostic and surgical procedures, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, HCPCS/CPT, classification systems, and health information/medical record department responsibilities.
  • Fluent in English, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a significant workload and work efficiently under pressure, meeting established deadlines with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in health information/Medical record environment, with facility coding experience that includes Medicare reimbursement guidelines.
  • Proficient knowledge and skill in the use of a computer and related systems and software, including EMR(s), Microsoft Office Suite, and other software programs.
  • Ability to evaluate, analyze, and develop information regarding mathematical statistics and percentages that compare findings and trends related to productivity and medical record audits.
