Madden Industrial Craftsman is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Certified Welding Inspector to join their team in a direct hire, day shift position at a fabrication shop. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of in-process shop fabrication dimensions, performing visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) weld inspections, and developing procedures to document and verify compliance.

  • **Key Responsibilities:**
  • Initiate regular audits and inspections to ensure work meets or exceeds industry standards, issuing corrective action as needed.
  • Ensure all quality control (QC) documentation is completed and retained to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Inform production management of any issues affecting production, quality, or safety.
  • Perform dimensional inspections on steel pieces after assembly, inspecting welding preparations and tack welds, reporting, and addressing non-conformances.
  • Assist with on-site customer inspections and provide expert advice on welding techniques and standards.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, use measurement tools and techniques to verify geometric tolerances of fabricated parts and assemblies.
  • Coordinate root cause analysis of defective products and present findings to production manager.
  • Perform regular safety inspections to ensure compliance with safety program policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of welding techniques and industry standards.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred.
  • At least 5 years' experience in a steel fabrication company performing QC tasks.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, keen attention to detail.
  • Knowledge in welding, metallurgy, steel fabrication, and reading blueprints.
  • Ability to interpret codes, drawings, and specifications, maintain dimensional tolerances, and use measuring tools.
  • Qualified or able to obtain ASNT SNT-TC-1A qualification strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required (degree preferred).
