Madden Industrial Craftsmen is in search of a Certified Welding Inspector for a direct hire, day shift role within a fabrication environment. The selected candidate will be tasked with ensuring the accuracy of in-process fabrication dimensions in accordance with technical drawings and specifications, conducting visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections, and formulating procedures to meticulously document compliance.


Compensation: $60,000-$80,000 annually


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ongoing audits and inspections to guarantee that all work performed meets or surpasses established standards, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure the completion and retention of all quality control documentation to satisfy regulatory requirements.
  • Notify production management of any concerns that may impact production, quality, or safety.
  • Perform dimensional inspections on fabricated steel components post-assembly, assess welding preparations and tack welds, report and address non-conformances, and maintain inspection progress records in the system.
  • Facilitate on-site inspections for customers.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interpret blueprints and utilize measurement tools to verify geometric tolerances of fabricated components and assemblies.
  • Coordinate root cause analysis for defective products and present findings to the production manager.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections to ensure adherence to safety program policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of welding techniques and standards.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a steel fabrication setting performing quality control tasks.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in welding, metallurgy, steel fabrication, and blueprint interpretation. Ability to understand codes, drawings, and specifications, maintain dimensional tolerances, and effectively use measuring instruments.
  • Qualification or ability to obtain ASNT SNT-TC-1A certification is strongly preferred.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required (degree preferred).
