Certified Welding Quality Inspector

Madden Industrial Craftsmen is in search of a Certified Welding Inspector for a full-time position during the day shift at a fabrication facility. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of in-process fabrication dimensions according to specified drawings and standards. Responsibilities include conducting visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) of welds, as well as formulating procedures to meticulously document compliance.
Compensation: $60,000-$80,000 annually
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct ongoing audits and inspections to verify that work performed meets or exceeds established standards, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Ensure all quality control documentation is completed and retained in accordance with requirements.
- Notify production management of any issues that may impact production, quality, or safety.
- Perform dimensional inspections on steel components post-assembly, assess welding preparations and tack welds, report and address non-conformances, update inspection progress in the system, interpret plans and standards, and calibrate inspection instruments.
- Assist with customer inspections on-site.
- Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret blueprints, employing measurement tools and techniques to verify geometric tolerances of fabricated parts and assemblies.
- Coordinate root cause analysis of defective products and present findings to the production manager.
- Conduct regular safety inspections to ensure adherence to safety program policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of welding techniques and standards.
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a steel fabrication environment performing quality control tasks.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in welding, metallurgy, steel fabrication, and blueprint reading. Ability to interpret codes, drawings, and specifications, maintain dimensional tolerances, and utilize measuring tools.
- Qualified or capable of obtaining ASNT SNT-TC-1A qualification is strongly preferred.
- A high school diploma or GED is required (degree preferred).
