Position Summary

The Facility Maintenance Specialist is a proactive individual who can work independently or collaboratively within a team. This role is essential for ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of the medical facility, its furnishings, and equipment. Responsibilities include the operation, maintenance, and repair of medical facilities and their associated systems and grounds. The specialist will competently execute work assignments, provide technical and logistical support, and engage in various aspects of facility upkeep and preventative maintenance.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and background check is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of maintenance experience is preferred, meeting the skills outlined by the maintenance department.
  • A valid Driver's license is necessary, with the ability to obtain a CDL within 90 days.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in email and a fundamental understanding of Windows 365, are required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct a variety of general and preventative maintenance tasks, ranging from basic repairs to moderately skilled trade-related projects, utilizing various hand and power tools.
  • Respond to daily maintenance requests, performing carpentry, minor electrical work, painting, mechanical, and plumbing repairs, including:
  • Routine plumbing tasks such as unblocking toilets, sinks, or urinals, fixing leaks, and maintaining water heaters and fixtures.
  • Perform minor electrical troubleshooting and repairs, including light fixtures and time clocks.
  • Repair and replace broken windows and caulk windows and doors.
  • Carry out structural repairs, including wall repairs and flooring installations, and prepare surfaces for painting.
  • Replace switches, ballasts, and troubleshoot alarm systems.
  • Assist with the operation of chillers and air handling units.
  • Troubleshoot and repair the hospital's Nurse call system.
  • Install shelving, paint, patch, and repair door hardware and sliding doors.
  • Conduct building maintenance inspections and rounds.
  • Schedule and perform preventive maintenance for buildings, equipment, and grounds.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and fire regulations.
  • Participate in snow removal operations.
  • Engage in general landscaping tasks and operate small landscape equipment.
