Position Summary

The Facility Maintenance Specialist is a proactive individual who can work independently or collaboratively within a team. This role involves assisting in the upkeep and maintenance of the medical facility, its furnishings, and equipment. Responsibilities include the operation, maintenance, and repair of medical facilities and associated systems, as well as grounds maintenance. The specialist will competently execute work assignments, provide technical and logistical support, and engage in various aspects of facility upkeep and preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • A minimum of 1 year of maintenance experience is recommended, meeting the skills outlined by the maintenance department.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's license and the ability to obtain a CDL within 90 days.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in email and a fundamental understanding of Windows 365.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct a diverse range of general and preventive maintenance and repair tasks, which may vary from basic to moderately skilled trade-related projects requiring the use of various hand and power tools.
  • Respond to daily maintenance requests and perform tasks such as carpentry, minor electrical work, painting, mechanical repairs, and plumbing.
  • Carry out routine plumbing repairs, including unclogging toilets, sinks, and urinals, fixing leaks, and maintaining water heaters and fixtures.
  • Perform caulking of windows and doors, and repair or replace broken windows.
  • Execute routine structural repairs, including wall repairs and flooring installations, and prepare surfaces for painting.
  • Replace electrical switches, ballasts, and troubleshoot alarm systems.
  • Repair or replace plumbing fixtures and operate drain cleaning equipment.
  • Start or restart chillers and air handling units independently.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust building automation systems and nurse call systems.
  • Install shelving, paint, patch walls, and repair door hardware.
  • Conduct building maintenance inspections and preventive maintenance schedules for facilities, equipment, and grounds.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and fire regulations.
  • Participate in snow removal operations and perform general landscaping duties.
  • Operate tractors, mowers, and other landscaping equipment.
