About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced National Practice Director of Buildings and Places to join our team at AtkinsRéalis. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving a culture of technical excellence throughout the architecture practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Staff Management: Lead effective performance management and career development practices to ensure all employees reach their highest potential.
  • Project Production and Management: Ensure appropriate staff allocation to projects, monitor compliance with quality control standards, and facilitate QA compliance audits.
  • Technical Excellence: Maintain visibility and professional currency by participating in professional and civic organizations, and encourage staff to do the same.
  • Marketing and Client Maintenance: Identify industry trends, collaborate with sales directors, and participate in pursuing new project opportunities.
  • Contracts and Financial: Promote financial accountability, develop project recovery plans, and assist with contract negotiations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with technical excellence in one or more areas of the architecture practice.
  • Postgraduate degree preferred.
  • Registered architect (RA) is required.
  • PMP is a plus.
  • Experience in a senior staff management position with a focus on operational excellence is preferred.
  • Excellent technical and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage large scope operations and provide leadership to multiple levels of management.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract negotiations, financial management, fee estimating, risk management, change management, and project closeout.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach that permits effective communication amongst leadership, management, clients, project managers, and staff.
  • Very strong financial management, team management, and leadership skills; ability to manage and coordinate efforts of various projects to produce budgeted profits and overall results.
  • Enthusiastic and resilient attitude with drive to achieve and maximize opportunities.
  • Proven success engaging, developing, managing, and retaining highly motivated Design and/or Discipline Managers.
  • Must be willing to accept travel within the U.S.
