The Director of Business Development will:

  • Formulate and execute strategic initiatives to enhance Mile Two's footprint in the DOD government contracting domain and secure contracts to meet revenue and experience objectives.
  • Identify and pursue new business prospects, including contract acquisitions and strategic partnerships.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, encompassing government entities, prime contractors, and industry collaborators.
  • Remain informed about industry trends, regulations, and the competitive landscape to guide business strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of contracts and projects.
  • Prepare and deliver capability presentations for prospective clients.
  • Assist staff in the effective preparation and submission of both Federal and non-Federal contract proposals.
  • Work alongside Project Management personnel to develop narratives of past performance for proposal use.
  • Stay updated on Federal government contracting laws, policies, and procedures relevant to business development for Mile Two.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) concerning the pursuit, award, and execution of federal contracts.
  • Assist in formulating the annual marketing budget for travel, conference participation, and other business development-related expenses.
  • Oversee the overall customer experience, ensuring satisfaction during and after the sale through the execution of all program and product deliveries.
  • Identify, validate, and monitor customer funding budgets and manage procurement opportunities throughout all phases of the buying process to contract award.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive account plan to achieve sales objectives, including forecasting monthly, quarterly, and annual sales, and projecting expected sales volume and profit.
  • Determine annual unit sale plans by implementing marketing strategies and analyzing trends and results, recommending pricing by monitoring competition and supply and demand.
  • Maintain sales volume, product mix, and pricing by staying current with supply and demand, evolving trends, economic indicators, and competitors.
  • Participate in trade shows and other industry events.
  • Prepare and present reports on business development activities and progress, including tracking opportunities in Hubspot.
  • Represent Mile Two with integrity and professionalism.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field with a minimum of 16 years of experience in business development, particularly in DOD government contracting, or a Master's degree with 14 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated success in winning and managing government contracts.
  • In-depth knowledge of the DOD acquisition process and relevant regulations.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire a team.
  • Active security clearance.
  • Strong project management capabilities, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent strategic planning abilities, with a focus on opportunity identification.
  • Capability to identify and engage teaming partners and key subcontractors.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients, team members, and internal stakeholders.
  • Highly motivated with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong business and industry acumen.
  • Aptitude for forging new relationships, both individually and in teams.
  • Self-starter who can work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Willingness to travel, with an average of 25-35% travel time expected.
