Job Summary

The YMCA of Greater Dayton is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead our organization in achieving its strategic objectives. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing annual objectives, managing the branch operating budget, and overseeing program development and membership growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement annual objectives that align with the Association's strategic plan, ensuring the branch's success and growth.
  • Financial Management: Manage the branch operating budget, forecasting and effectively managing expenses to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Program Development: Work with staff to develop and implement program plans that meet YMCA objectives and adhere to state, local, and YMCA health and safety regulations.
  • Membership Growth: Develop and implement membership sales and retention goals, working with staff to achieve them.
  • Annual Campaign: Lead a successful Annual Campaign to achieve the pre-campaign agreed-upon goal.
  • Staff Management: Select, train, lead, coach, evaluate, develop, and motivate Branch staff and volunteers.
  • Inclusive Work Environment: Foster an inclusive work environment that values diversity and promotes a culture of respect and empathy.
  • Collaborations: Develop and work successfully with collaborative partners to achieve common goals.
  • Community Engagement: Promote and advocate for the work of the Y within the community, in accordance with Association/Branch strategic and operating plans.
  • Volunteer Management: Recruit, develop, and lead the appropriate volunteer structure of the branch, including an active volunteer Board of Advisors.
  • Facility Management: Oversee the management of a clean and sanitary, safe, and well-maintained facility that meets all state and local licensing requirements.
  • Marketing and Communications: Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information, ensuring marketing materials comply with Y branding guidelines and using Y Voice to effectively tell the YMCA story.
  • Record Keeping: Ensure maintenance of accurate records for the branch related to programs, facility, and staff.
  • Incident Reporting: Communicate to the Vice President of Operations any concerns or incidents that may need follow-up.
  • Committee Leadership: Lead goal setting and achievement of outcomes of program task teams, and other assigned committees, of the Association.
  • Staff Meetings: Hold effective staff meetings to ensure clear communication and collaboration among team members.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent education and experience required.
  • Certifications: CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen within 60 days of hire and kept current.
  • Experience: Six or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or nonprofit agency.
  • Skills: Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
  • Volunteer Management: Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
  • Fundraising: Proven track record in fundraising along with community and partner development.
  • Budget Management: Sound budget development, fiscal, and facility management background required.
  • Program Planning: Solid experience in program planning and membership development required.
  • Collaborations: Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • Certifications: YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
  • Transportation: Must hold a valid driver's license, insurable driver's record according to the YMCA's insurance carriers, and have reliable transportation to travel for business meetings, training events, YMCA site visits, vendors, and suppliers, etc.
  • Computer Skills: Computer skills needed, particularly with Microsoft Office and email applications, along with ability to learn the internal YMCA software.
