Position Title: Security Control Assessor (SCA) I

The Air Force (AF) Special Access Program (SAP) Security Support Services (SSS) plays a crucial role in aiding the AF cognizant security authority to oversee enhanced National Security Objectives that support AF SAP interests through proactive and integrated security operations, processes, and management. This role encompasses multidisciplinary security support, including specialized analytical and program protection assistance, while remaining adaptable to evolving SAP security scenarios.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the formulation, execution, and assessment of Information System (IS) security program policies, with a particular focus on the integration of existing SAP network frameworks.
  • Conduct assessments of ISs utilizing the Risk Management Framework (RMF) methodology, in accordance with the Joint Special Access Program (SAP) Implementation Guide (JSIG).
  • Provide guidance to the Information System Owner (ISO), Information Data Owner (IDO), Program Security Officer (PSO), and the Delegated and/or Authorizing Official (DAO/AO) regarding assessment and authorization matters.
  • Review Authorization packages and make recommendations to the AO and/or DAO for authorization.
  • Analyze IS threats and vulnerabilities to determine if additional safeguards are necessary.
  • Advise the Government on the impact levels concerning Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability of information within a system.
  • Ensure that security assessments are finalized, documented, and prepare the Security Assessment Report (SAR) for the Authorization boundary.
  • Initiate a Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) for identified weaknesses within each assessed Authorization Boundary, based on findings and recommendations from the SAR.
  • Evaluate security assessment documentation and provide written recommendations for security authorization to the Government.
  • Discuss authorization recommendations and submit the security authorization package to the AO/DAO.
  • Assess proposed modifications to Authorization boundaries, operational environments, and mission requirements to determine continued operation viability.
  • Review and approve all sanitization and clearing procedures in accordance with Government guidelines and policies.
  • Assist the Government during compliance inspections.
  • Support the Government in addressing security incidents related to cybersecurity and ensure appropriate corrective measures are implemented.
  • Ensure organizations are addressing and conducting all phases of the system development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Evaluate Hardware and Software to assess their security impact on Authorization boundaries.
  • Assess the effectiveness and implementation of Continuous Monitoring Plans.
  • Represent the customer on inspection teams.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience (4 years).
  • 5-7 years of related experience.
  • Prior experience in the roles of Information System Security Officer (ISSO) and Information System Security Manager (ISSM).
  • Must fulfill position and certification requirements outlined in DoD Directive M for Information Assurance Technician Level III or Information Assurance Manager Level I within 6 months of hire.
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience in SAP, SCI, or Collateral Information Systems (IS) Security and the implementation of relevant regulations.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Prior active duty in the U.S. Air Force is a plus.
