Role Summary:

As an Airport Operations Specialist, you will be instrumental in upholding the safety and operational efficiency of our airport facilities. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will oversee airfield and airport activities, ensuring adherence to FAA, TSA, and Commission standards. Your meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to safety will be essential in sustaining our high operational benchmarks.

Core Responsibilities:

Inspection & Oversight: Carry out routine evaluations of both airside and landside facilities, ensuring compliance with regulations and identifying any safety issues.
Documentation & Collaboration: Document discrepancies through the NOTAM system and work orders, assist in the creation of FAA-mandated manuals, and liaise with construction contractors.
Safety & Protection: Conduct runway assessments, manage snow removal efforts, provide escorts in secure zones, and ensure compliance with safety and security protocols.
Training & Representation: Facilitate training sessions and act as a departmental representative in the absence of senior operations staff.

Candidate Profile:

Detail-Oriented: You possess a comprehensive understanding of FAR Parts 139 and 77, as well as TSR Part 1542, with a talent for identifying and resolving compliance challenges.
Effective Communicator: Strong verbal and written communication skills are crucial for drafting manuals, preparing reports, and engaging with various stakeholders.
Analytical Thinker: Your ability to maintain composure under pressure and make informed decisions is vital for managing emergencies and ensuring operational continuity.
Collaborative Team Member: You thrive in both independent and team-oriented environments, demonstrating a proven ability to work effectively with diverse groups.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience: A Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management or a related field is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered. Experience at a 139 certified airport is advantageous.
Certifications: AAAE ACE (Ops), Certified Member (C.M.), or AMPAP/IAP designation is preferred.
Special Requirements: Must be available for rotating shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and possess a valid Virginia driver's license. Must meet TSA security criteria for unescorted access to secure areas.
