GENERAL SUMMARY

The Custodial Staff plays a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness, hygiene, and overall aesthetic of the designated work environment. This position is accountable for maintaining a clean, safe, and inviting atmosphere for all occupants, employees, and visitors. The individual will perform cleaning and maintenance tasks to uphold the standards of sanitation and cleanliness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential functions of this role include, but are not limited to:

  1. Cleaning and Maintenance: Execute sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming of floors; dust and wipe down surfaces, including desks, tables, countertops, and fixtures. Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors. Manage the disposal of trash and recycling, replacing liners as necessary. Maintain cleanliness of windows and glass surfaces, and sanitize common areas such as hallways, staircases, and elevators.
  2. Restocking Supplies: Monitor and replenish restroom supplies, including toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and hand sanitizers. Ensure dispensers for hand hygiene products are adequately filled and maintained.
  3. Floor Care: Maintain hard floors through sweeping and mopping, and carpets through vacuuming. Operate floor cleaning equipment such as polishers, buffers, and steam cleaners, ensuring proper functionality and reporting any issues to the supervisor.
  4. Safety and Security: Identify and address safety hazards and potential security concerns. Report unsafe conditions or incidents promptly to the supervisor. Maintain open communication regarding cleaning supplies, equipment needs, and any arising issues.
  5. Compliance and Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) to mitigate risks associated with cleaning chemicals and equipment. Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
  6. Customer Service: Provide courteous and helpful assistance to building occupants, visitors, and colleagues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

To successfully perform the duties of this position, candidates must possess the following:

  • Detail-oriented and a collaborative team player.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a custodial role is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of safety hazards and the proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in tasks.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.
  • Capability to maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Professional, polite, and courteous interaction with staff, visitors, and employees.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands of this role include:

  • Occasional sitting and frequent walking.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
