Job Overview

Position Summary:
Waypoint Contracting, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Superintendent who possesses the expertise and experience necessary to support the daily operations of both governmental and commercial construction projects. This role serves as a developmental opportunity within our organization, allowing individuals to gain a comprehensive understanding of the construction process while honing their management skills for future advancement.


Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Superintendent:

  • Support the Superintendent in overseeing daily field operations and work sequences to ensure project milestones and completion dates are achieved.
  • Organize, assess, and supervise the efforts of subcontractors and laborers.
  • Foster and maintain effective relationships with all project stakeholders.
  • Assist in the management and distribution of the project lookahead schedule.
  • Ensure that all work is executed to high standards of quality (i.e., plumb, level, straight, etc.).
  • Verify layouts, openings, and field measurements against project plans and submittals.
  • Review and coordinate all submittals and shop drawings for feasibility and alignment with field conditions.
  • Assist in identifying, scheduling, and managing inspections to secure timely project completion certifications.
  • Help identify and generate potential Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Support the management of self-performed tasks to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Assist in managing changes in project scope to ensure the most current contract documents are utilized.
  • Help manage the punch list and project closeout processes to ensure timely completion.
  • Participate in Owner-Architect-Contractor meetings.
  • Generate and maintain daily field reports.
  • Assist in ensuring project safety and cleanliness standards are upheld.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in General Contracting within the Government/Commercial sector.
  • Experience with Federal or Army Corps USACE projects is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and construct according to drawings, specifications, and other documentation.
  • Current safety certifications including OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR. If not available, must obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Proficient in MS Office and current project management software.
  • Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are preferred.
