The Assistant Superintendent at Waypoint Contracting, Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of construction projects, whether they are government or commercial in nature. This position is designed for individuals looking to enhance their understanding of the construction industry while developing essential management skills for career advancement within the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Superintendent in overseeing daily field operations and ensure adherence to project timelines and milestones.
  • Organize, assess, and supervise the activities of subcontractors and labor teams.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with all project stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of the project schedule.
  • Ensure all work is executed to high standards of quality and craftsmanship.
  • Confirm all layouts, openings, and measurements align with project plans and specifications.
  • Review and coordinate all shop drawings and submittals for feasibility and compliance with site conditions.
  • Assist in identifying and scheduling necessary inspections to facilitate timely project completion.
  • Help identify potential Requests for Information (RFIs) as needed.
  • Support the management of self-performed work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Assist in managing project scope changes to ensure current contract documents are utilized.
  • Contribute to the punch list and project closeout process to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Participate in Owner-Architect-Contractor meetings.
  • Maintain and generate daily field reports.
  • Assist in upholding project safety standards and cleanliness.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in General Contracting within the Government or Commercial sectors.
  • Experience with Federal or Army Corps of Engineers projects is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and related documents.
  • Current safety certifications, including OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR; if not already certified, must obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and contemporary project management software.
  • Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are preferred.
