About the Role

As a Hardware System Design Engineer at Apple, you will play a critical role in the development of our revolutionary spatial computer, Apple Vision Pro. This innovative product seamlessly blends digital content with your physical space, enabling new ways to interact and experience the world.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop high-volume products, ensuring seamless integration with manufacturing partners.
  • Apply electrical engineering expertise to select components, design schematics, direct layout, and bring up/debug circuits in the lab.
  • Work alongside partner teams to realize prototypes, aid in product definition, and conduct user testing.
  • Characterize circuits using state-of-the-art test equipment in labs, define test criteria, and execute test plans on functional prototypes.
  • Occasionally travel domestically and overseas to work with manufacturing partners.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience designing electronics and/or embedded systems.
  • Strong Electrical Engineering fundamentals, including high-speed buses, analog/digital design, signal/power integrity, etc.
  • Hands-on experience in prototyping, bring-up, debug, and validation.
  • Comfortable working in a lab environment using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, frequency counters, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing high-volume products from beginning to end and dealing with contract manufacturers.
  • Familiarity with leading PCB technology and electrical design and characterization of areas such as PCIe, USB, Display Port, MIPI, and I2C/SPI/UART buses.
  • Knowledge in one or more areas, including CPU/SOC, power (DC-DC converters, battery, power management, low power design), analog circuits, audio/camera/display/wireless integration and measurement, sensor design and integration.
  • Experience designing hardware for USB specification compliant devices.
  • Experience working with mechanical design and software development teams.
  • Expertise in board CAD tools, including Cadence Concept & Allegro.
  • Ability to learn quickly and become familiar with overall product goals and challenges.
  • Strong social skills across organizations and at the executive level.
  • Excellent written skills for clear reporting of data analysis and conclusions.
Compensation and Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
