Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Lead Mechanic, the Equipment Technician is tasked with the maintenance, repair, and servicing of various types of mobile equipment, including gas and electric golf carts, as well as diesel, gas, propane, and electric lift trucks, following the guidelines and specifications set forth by manufacturers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Dismantles and installs protective guards, tracks, roller frames, cabs, masts, forks, and other external components.
2. Removes and replaces engines, transmissions, steering clutches, drive axles, and other significant parts.
3. Cleans components using petroleum-based solvents or comparable cleaning techniques.
4. Assembles and disassembles parts as directed and conducts basic diagnostic evaluations.
5. Assesses worn and used components; when necessary, procures new and refurbished parts from catalogs, shop personnel, or external suppliers.
6. Operates and tests machinery post-repair and makes minor adjustments as needed.
7. Completes service reports to document parts usage, labor costs, and repair processes.
8. Maintains and services the company's material handling machinery.
9. Keeps service records for the company's material handling equipment.
10. Troubleshoots and repairs electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems associated with material handling machinery.
11. Maintains and services construction vehicles and equipment, including those powered by propane, diesel, and gasoline.
12. Services battery-operated vehicles and equipment, including their chargers and charging systems.
13. Performs general housekeeping tasks such as cleaning floors and painting storage areas.
14. Utilizes the CMMS to log all completed tasks.
15. Adheres to all safety protocols and regulations to promote a culture of safety during all operations.
16. Undertakes additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in maintaining electric, gas, and diesel forklifts, golf carts, aerial lifts, and skid steers.
- Forklift certification or the ability to obtain it.
- Knowledge of battery-operated vehicles and their charging systems.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and urgency.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, relying on established guidelines.
- Familiarity with tools and their applications.
- Understanding of safety requirements for equipment and tools.
- Basic computer skills.
- Proven commitment to fostering a positive safety culture.
- Capability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications

- Over 4 years of experience in industrial equipment maintenance.
- Completion of a 2-year vocational education program or equivalent experience preferred.
