Job Overview

Position Summary


Under the supervision of the Supervisor, the Equipment Mechanic is tasked with the maintenance, repair, and servicing of gas and electric golf carts, as well as diesel, gas, propane, and electric lift truck machinery, adhering to the guidelines and specifications set forth by equipment manufacturers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Remove and install guards, tracks, roller frames, cabs, masts, forks, and other external components.
  • Disassemble and reassemble engines, transmissions, steering clutches, drive axles, and other significant parts.
  • Utilize petroleum-based solvents or similar cleaning techniques to clean components.
  • Conduct limited diagnostic evaluations on machinery and perform assembly and disassembly tasks as directed.
  • Assess worn and used parts; if necessary, procure new or refurbished components from parts catalogs, shop personnel, or external suppliers.
  • Operate and test machinery post-repair, making necessary adjustments.
  • Complete service reports to document parts usage, labor costs, and repair processes.
  • Maintain and service company material handling equipment and keep service records updated.
  • Repair and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems related to material handling equipment.
  • Service construction vehicles and equipment, including those with propane, diesel, and gas engines.
  • Maintain and service battery-operated vehicles and equipment, including their charging systems.
  • Perform general housekeeping tasks such as cleaning floors and painting shelves and markers.
  • Utilize the CMMS system to log completed jobs.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to promote a culture of safety.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Given the nature of the essential functions associated with this role, GreenWood has classified this as a "safety-sensitive" position.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in maintaining electric, gas, and diesel forklifts, golf carts, aerial lifts, and skid steers.
  • Forklift certification or the ability to obtain it.
  • Knowledge of battery-operated vehicles and their charging systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and strong communication skills.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while following established guidelines.
  • Good understanding of tools and their functions.
  • Awareness of safety requirements for equipment and tools.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Experience in fostering a positive safety culture.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Beneficial Skills and Experience

  • More than 4 years of experience in maintaining industrial equipment.
  • Completion of a 2-year vocational education program or equivalent knowledge is preferred.
