About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Certified Traffic Control Specialist to join our team at Labor Finders. As a key member of our highway maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic on our roadways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Flagging and Signage: Safely direct traffic to warn of obstacles or repair work ahead, and set up signs and cones to divert traffic.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate trucks, tractors, and other equipment to sweep debris, mow grass and weeds, and remove snow and ice.
  • Asphalt Repair: Dump and spread asphalt to repair joints and patch broken pavement.
  • Transportation: Drive trucks to transport crews and equipment to work sites.
  • Inspection and Maintenance: Inspect, clean, and repair drainage systems, bridges, tunnels, and other structures.
  • Material Handling: Haul and spread sand, gravel, and clay to fill washouts and repair road shoulders.
  • Infrastructure Installation: Erect, install, or repair guardrails, road shoulders, berms, highway markers, warning signals, and highway lighting.
  • Debris Removal: Remove litter and debris from roadways, including debris from rock and mud slides.
  • Culvert and Drainage Maintenance: Clean and clear debris from culverts, catch basins, drop inlets, ditches, and other drain structures.
  • Landscaping: Perform roadside landscaping work, such as clearing weeds and brush, and planting and trimming trees.
  • Painting and Marking: Paint traffic control lines and place pavement traffic messages, by hand or using machines.
  • Quality Control: Inspect markers to verify accurate installation.
  • Measurement and Marking: Measure and mark locations for installation of markers, using tape, string, or chalk.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and Training: Possess knowledge and training in traffic control techniques, including flagger training and certification.
  • Safety Awareness: Understand and follow all safety procedures, guidelines, and government laws and regulations.
  • Technical Knowledge: Have knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of highways and roads.
  • Physical Demands: Be able to quickly and repeatedly adjust machines or vehicle controls to exact positions, and possess near vision, depth perception, and attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Physical Abilities: Possess physical strength and stamina required to stand, walk, and lift for long periods of time, and physical dexterity to work with tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Driver's License: Hold a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record.
