The Rig Operations Manager at Axis Energy Administration is tasked with overseeing the safe and efficient management of multiple workover rigs within our fleet. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of operational protocols and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency. Key responsibilities encompass cost management (supplies & repairs), crew performance oversight, effective leadership of rig teams, and upholding our esteemed reputation in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Ensures a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible work environment.
  • Exhibits a positive demeanor, serving as a mentor and leader. Instills pride in daily operations to inspire the team.
  • Proactively prevents incidents by prioritizing safety, fostering a safety-oriented culture on-site, and addressing any at-risk behaviors or equipment issues. Conducts site visits to assess job readiness and crew competency.
  • Understands rig capabilities and limitations, routinely evaluating and inspecting rig performance.
  • Communicates effectively, dedicating time to educate team members, sharing expertise, utilizing positive reinforcement, and enforcing accountability.
  • Documents all incidents, including environmental issues, near misses, and equipment problems.
  • Maintains professional relationships with rig personnel, supervisors, company representatives, third parties, and the community with integrity and respect.
  • Conducts thorough and timely rig inspections.
  • Ensures basic maintenance of on-site equipment is consistently performed.
  • Reports and addresses any unsafe work practices and potential hazards.
  • Possesses a fundamental mechanical understanding of rig operations.
  • Participates in and leads all safety programs and initiatives.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Direct reports may include Field Coordinators, Field Supervisors, Maintenance personnel, and administrative support.
  • Builds and develops a capable operations team to meet service objectives.
  • Oversees the direction, coordination, evaluation, and management of direct reports.
  • Facilitates employee performance development and training.
  • Implements supervisory responsibilities in alignment with organizational policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning and directing work, appraising performance, and addressing employee concerns.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; a minimum of five (5) years of relevant oilfield and management experience; or a combination of education and experience in oilfield services. Consideration will be given to candidates with 8+ years of relevant experience in lieu of formal education.
  • Experience across various oilfield service lines and regions is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience in rig execution, service delivery, and crew scheduling.
  • Proven track record in coordinating oilfield equipment and enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Exhibits strong business acumen and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service while prioritizing employee safety.
  • Proficient in computer applications and technical tools, particularly Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and workflows effectively.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage several projects and meet deadlines.
  • Sound judgment with the ability to make timely and informed decisions.
