The Rig Operations Manager is accountable for the safe and efficient management of operations involving multiple workover rigs. This role demands a comprehensive understanding and expertise to ensure a safe, effective, and reputable operation. Key responsibilities encompass overseeing costs (supplies & repairs), optimizing rig and crew performance, providing strong leadership to rig personnel, and upholding our esteemed reputation in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

The primary functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Conducts operations in a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Exhibits a positive demeanor, serving as a mentor, coach, and leader. Takes pride in daily tasks, inspiring employees to follow suit.
  • Prevents incidents by prioritizing safety, fostering a safety culture on-site, and addressing any at-risk behaviors or equipment issues. Regularly visits locations to assess job readiness and crew competency.
  • Understands rig capabilities and limitations, routinely evaluating and inspecting rig performance.
  • Communicates effectively, dedicating time to educate team members, sharing knowledge and skills, employing positive reinforcement, and enforcing accountability.
  • Documents all incidents, including environmental concerns, near misses, and rig/equipment issues.
  • Maintains professional relationships with rig personnel, supervisors, company representatives, third parties, and the community with integrity and respect.
  • Conducts thorough and timely rig inspections.
  • Ensures that essential maintenance of on-site equipment is performed consistently.
  • Reports and addresses any unsafe work practices and safety hazards.
  • Participates in and leads all safety programs, processes, and requirements.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Direct reports may include Field Coordinators, Field Supervisors, Maintenance personnel, and administrative support staff.
  • Builds and manages a competent operations team to fulfill service initiatives for clients.
  • Oversees the direction, coordination, evaluation, and management of direct reports.
  • Facilitates employee performance development and both technical and non-technical training.
  • Implements supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining staff; addressing complaints; and resolving issues.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; a minimum of five (5) years of relevant oilfield and management experience; or a combination of education and experience in oilfield services. Consideration will be given to candidates with over eight (8) years of relevant experience in lieu of formal education.
  • Experience across various oilfield service lines and regions is advantageous.
  • Extensive experience in rig execution, service delivery, and crew scheduling.
  • Proven track record in coordinating oilfield equipment and ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrated business acumen with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service while prioritizing employee safety.
  • Proficient in computer applications and technical skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and workflows effectively.
  • Proven capability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Sound judgment with the ability to make timely and informed decisions.
