Position Title:
Senior Automation Controls Specialist

Overview:
This role is pivotal in enhancing electrical and automation control systems within the Assembly sector. The focus is on designing and executing control enhancements aimed at boosting operational efficiency, minimizing expenses, and elevating system reliability.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement upgrades to current electrical, robotic, and PLC automation systems to enhance operational uptime and reliability.
2. Evaluate engineering designs for manufacturability and propose necessary modifications.
3. Solicit proposals for the enhancement or replacement of existing equipment, select vendors, and coordinate with internal teams.
4. Ensure that projects adhere to budgetary constraints and timelines, while complying with safety, electrical, and automation standards.
5. Oversee and direct significant maintenance activities, urgent repairs, and corrective measures on machinery and facilities.
6. Mentor and guide team members in troubleshooting, equipment design, and automation processes.
7. Maintain essential records and documentation, preparing management reports as required.
8. Manage supplier performance and project timelines for new equipment, ensuring detailed and accurate machine design documentation.
9. Drive continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with the IT department and integrated process monitoring systems.
10. Adhere to plant standards for documentation management in accordance with ISO standards.
11. Prepare, oversee, and execute capital budget projects, supporting Six Sigma initiatives.
12. Facilitate clear communication with plant management regarding project progress.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field is mandatory.
- A Master’s degree in Engineering or an MBA is preferred.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in automation, ideally within a manufacturing context.
- Proficient in Siemens PLC products and TIA Portal.
- Familiarity with risk assessments and safety evaluations.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects while adapting to changing priorities.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal electrical codes is essential; understanding of mechanical and safety codes is advantageous.
- Experience with Profibus, Profinet, Profisafe, Safety Integrated, and ASI-Bus is beneficial.
- Familiarity with FANUC Robots, FANUC Vision, Cognex Vision, and Atlas Copco tools is highly desirable.
- Proven capability to create and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
