Role Overview:

The Process Control Engineer plays a pivotal role in fostering a safe and efficient workplace, advocating for safety and excellence in all operational aspects.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the dependable operation of the mill's control systems hardware and software.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to fellow engineers and technicians.
  • Establish and maintain effective record-keeping systems within assigned areas.
  • Assist in troubleshooting processes and maintenance activities, including Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
  • Manage alarm activities within designated areas.
  • Support the implementation of Instrument and Electrical Precision Maintenance (IEPM) across the mill.
  • Offer process and maintenance support for environmental systems.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to troubleshoot process challenges.
  • Work with operations to resolve issues related to operator interfaces and familiarize with graphics development.
  • Pursue process optimization through innovative control strategies.
  • Engage in the IEPM process actively.
  • Be available for weekend and night shifts to provide technical and leadership support, including during startups.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in a continuous process industry.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in process control and/or process engineering.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in controls engineering and control systems.
  • Interpersonal skills to navigate a diverse organization and non-union environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with peers and across various stakeholder groups.
  • Proficiency in building and maintaining positive team relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and listening), along with strong organizational and planning abilities.
  • Capability to achieve results through teamwork with minimal supervision.
