Position Overview

BHE GT&S is offering a remarkable opportunity at our Cove Point Facility for an Associate LNG Technician (Instrumentation). This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation of our liquefied natural gas (LNG) import/export and re-gasification terminal.

Key Responsibilities

The Associate LNG Technician (Instrumentation) will report to the Instrument Supervisor and be part of a diverse team dedicated to the operational integrity of LNG process systems. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, adherence to policies, and efficient terminal operations. The technician will engage in:
  • Conducting preventive and corrective maintenance inspections utilizing various testing equipment such as portable pressure gauges and loop calibrators.
  • Performing flue gas readings and accurately documenting results.
  • Executing engineering tasks related to control loop modifications.
  • Maintaining and updating documentation pertinent to instrumentation.
  • Implementing control system upgrades and modifications.
  • Providing training and mentorship to junior Instrument Technicians.
  • Assisting during LNG ship loading and unloading operations.
  • Participating in environmental safety training and adhering to security protocols.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Working in a rotational shift environment, including weekends and holidays.
  • Following safety protocols and regulatory mandates in all duties.
Qualifications

Associate LNG Technician (Instrumentation)
  • 0-2 years of experience in an industrial environment with hands-on mechanical work.
LNG Technician (Instrumentation)
  • Minimum of three years of experience in Instrumentation and Controls within an industrial setting.
Sr. LNG Technician (Instrumentation)
  • Five years of experience in an industrial or controls environment, including military experience.
  • Understanding of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and LNG process systems.
  • Familiarity with plant utilities such as air, water, and power generation.
  • Proficiency in automatic control instruments and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and lab equipment calibration.
  • Basic computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Recent LNG experience is preferred; however, related experience in petrochemical or cryogenic processing may be acceptable.
  • Experience with CEMS or Gas Chromatograph equipment is advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in instrument corrosion technology, LNG production, or petrochemical industries.
  • Completion of a formal craft training program is a plus.
Education

Associate degree in a related field is preferred. Candidates without an associate degree should have two years of progressive work experience.

Licenses and Certifications

Must obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing.
