Summary
The role involves assessing the chemical and physical characteristics of various organic and inorganic materials for consumer product evaluation. The individual will independently perform sample analyses of varying complexity, including preparation, extraction, and digestion, utilizing both instrumentation and established laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This position serves as a technical resource for Chemists and leads the team in analytical methodologies and data interpretation. The individual will also have limited supervisory responsibilities, including training new personnel, while actively engaging in laboratory work as a Chemist for over 50% of the time.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess the chemical and physical characteristics of various organic and inorganic materials for consumer product evaluation.
- Independently perform sample analyses of varying complexity, preparation, extraction, and digestion, following official methods and laboratory SOPs.
- Act as a technical resource for Chemists.
- Lead the team in analytical methodologies and data interpretation.
- Deliver exceptional service to clients by promptly addressing issues or delays.
- Conduct training for all laboratory personnel.
- Monitor the performance of laboratory staff and implement coaching and disciplinary measures as necessary.
- Supervise and guide receiving specialists to facilitate sample login and transport of client samples.
- Assist clients in understanding laboratory analyses and provide technical solutions when appropriate.
- Assume responsibility for the authenticity of Laboratory Certificates of Analysis.
- Receive client orders for submitted samples, follow up on job progress, and report status to clients.
- Make recommendations to the Regional Laboratory Manager regarding laboratory enhancements.
- Engage actively in local marketing initiatives.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of sampling techniques and sources.
- Conduct testing and analysis, along with other assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Ensure compliance with the Laboratory Quality Assurance Manual and Safety Manual.
- Stay updated with laboratory quality practices and SOPs.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience
Must have LNG experience
- 7+ years of experience in a regulated commercial laboratory environment.
- 2+ years of experience in protocol and report writing.
- Advanced knowledge of routine and non-routine testing methodologies.
OR
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related disciplines.
- 3+ years of experience in a laboratory setting.
