Patient Registration Coordinator

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Registration Clerk to join our team at Unity Health Care. As a Patient Registration Clerk, you will be responsible for performing patient registration, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.
Key Responsibilities- Control the flow of patients in and out of the clinic, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
- Perform necessary registration functions, including insurance verifications, demographic updates, and emergency contact information.
- Serve as a receptionist and liaison between patients, teammates, and staff, providing exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Review client-related forms for accuracy and completeness, assisting patients as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, adhering to Unity Health Care's standards.
- Maintain files and/or client database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
- Schedule appointments, record information, and effectively communicate appointment schedules to patients.
- Measure key metrics important for advanced access, contributing to the success of our healthcare services.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One year of experience in an office setting, preferably in a medical office setting.
- Strong customer service background.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurances.
- Basic knowledge of health insurance plans, such as Medicare and Medicaid.
- Good oral, written, and telephone communication skills.
- Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred.
- Ability to work independently or in a team-oriented environment, interrelating well with individuals from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
- Basic working knowledge of computers.
- Typing 40 WPM preferred.
Unity Health Care provides primary healthcare services to underserved patients in Washington, DC. As a federally qualified health center, we are committed to serving traditionally underserved people in the community. Our office environment may be stressful, with multiple, time-sensitive tasks to be accomplished within a short period of time.
Hours may include some evenings and/or Saturday work. While every effort is made to assign staff to one clinic site regularly, Unity may change the assigned clinic and/or site temporarily or permanently, depending on the need.
