Job Summary:

MedStar Health is seeking a highly skilled Patient Registration Associate to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. As a key member of our Ambulatory-Oncology Clinic, you will be responsible for coordinating all functions and activities related to patient access, including front-end customer service, accurate and complete patient registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and Time-of-Service (TOS) payment processing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Arrival and Check-In/Check-Out: Greet patients, respond to inquiries, and assist with the completion of paperwork, ensuring all information obtained is complete and accurate.
  • Identity Validation: Validate patient identity by asking to see identification and/or validating the stored image of the patient's identification. Obtain and scan Patient Photo ID, Insurance Card, Referrals, and signed documents into the approved organization electronic scheduling and billing systems as appropriate.
  • Alerts and Notifications: Alert patients on pending appointments, including Missing Referral, Missing Pre-certification/Authorization, Self-Pay Accounts, Eligibility Verification, Missing Demographic/Insurance Information, and Medstar and/or Georgetown University Hospital specific requirements.
  • Data Entry and Financial Responsibility: Enter all relevant data, linking to the appropriate appointment/visit, and ensure all required data elements are captured. Advise patients of their financial responsibility and obtain signed financial responsibility forms as necessary.
  • Payment Collection and Posting: Collect visit copayment, co-insurance, balance on account, and self-pay payments. Post payments to patients' accounts in the approved organization electronic scheduling and billing systems and provide patients with system-generated receipts.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of customer service experience required. 1-2 years of experience in a medical/clinical office setting preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Computerized scheduling, registration, knowledge of IDX/GE Centricity, and experience with electronic health records preferred.
  • Associate Degree: Associate degree preferred.
