Job Overview

deciBel Research, Inc. is currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Administrator. This position plays a vital role in maintaining and enhancing our IT infrastructure, ensuring both stability and security across our systems.

Position Summary:

The Senior Systems Administrator will be responsible for overseeing the administration of hardware and software components within a secure environment. This role demands a proactive approach to system management and a commitment to best practices in IT security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily system administration activities for both hardware and software within a classified setting.
  • Engage in the design and documentation of IT systems, focusing on creating robust and scalable solutions.
  • Configure and deploy servers, workstations, and desktop devices efficiently.
  • Install and set up Linux and Windows operating systems, along with necessary applications and updates.
  • Utilize automated provisioning tools to enhance system deployment processes.
  • Monitor system performance to ensure the reliability and availability of IT infrastructure.
  • Execute regular system upgrades, patches, and security enhancements.
  • Oversee backup management, disaster recovery strategies, and data integrity protocols.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant security standards and best practices.
  • Conduct security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing as required.
  • Assist in the configuration and troubleshooting of network components and support connected devices.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Track and report on system performance, security incidents, and compliance status.
  • Create and update user manuals and IT policies as necessary.
  • Facilitate consistent technical direction and understanding among team members, ensuring uniform IT processes and documentation.
  • Act as a liaison to the program helpdesk, supporting requests for onsite assistance from team members.
  • Help define schedules, assign tasks, and monitor progress to ensure successful integration and checkout activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Education Requirements:

Associate Degree or higher in a relevant technical discipline.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Senior Systems Administrator, particularly in a classified environment.
  • Capability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification is required.
  • Proficiency in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of both Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience in conducting vulnerability scans and addressing identified issues.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a prompt response to technical challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members and senior management.
  • Familiarity with DISA STIG requirements is preferred.

Desired Skills:

  • CompTIA Network+ Certification.
  • Cisco CCNA Certification.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and Python.
