Your Role as a Leave Administration Specialist

The Leave Administration Specialist will manage and facilitate leave requests and accommodations that require specialized handling, particularly those governed by the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as well as various state and local leave regulations, and short-term or long-term disability plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all facets of employee leave programs, including FMLA, ADA, and other statutory and company-specific leaves such as maternity or paternity leave, medical or disability leave, and unpaid leave.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to managers and employees regarding leave policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate leave claims or requests, assess employee eligibility, and assist managers in creating alternative work arrangements or coordinating coverage, as well as managing employee transitions back to work or separations.
  • Document leaves and make necessary adjustments to time or pay within HRIS or payroll systems.
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies and compliance with federal and state regulations related to leave entitlements and documentation requirements.
  • Collaborate with HR and payroll teams to address complex leave scenarios and maintain consistency in leave administration.

Qualifications:

  • A 2-4 year degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience with federal and state leave programs and company leave benefits, including short-term and long-term disability.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills at all organizational levels.
