Automation Controls Specialist

Position Overview:
As an Automation Controls Specialist, you will be responsible for transforming client specifications into detailed design documents, assessing the feasibility of designs, and offering technical guidance to fulfill client needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop programming for PLCs, safety systems, and design the HMI interface.
- Source and program various components including motors, drives, actuators, robots, vision systems, sensors, and servo controls.
- Oversee comprehensive system programming, testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, installation, maintenance, and upgrades.
- Execute complete electrical designs and produce professional electrical schematics and panel layouts.
- Generate Bill of Materials (BOM) for projects.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization.
Qualifications:
Candidates should possess proven programming expertise in PLCs, HMI systems, and safety protocols. Familiarity with core platforms such as Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, and Siemens is essential, while experience with B&R and Beckhoff is advantageous.
A system-level perspective on machine programming with a strong emphasis on recovery processes is required. Experience in robotics, automation technologies, vision systems, and sensor integration is preferred.
Proficient computer skills, including networking and device communication, along with design capabilities are necessary. A working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical is also expected.
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial automation and controls development is required. Alternatively, an Associate’s degree in Engineering (ASEE or ASEET) with at least 10 years of relevant experience will be considered.
