Job Overview
We are in search of a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to enhance our operations at II-VI Aerospace & Defense. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in manufacturing process innovation and support within a cutting-edge sector. This role requires a meticulous, hands-on engineer dedicated to refining existing products and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacturing Process Development and Enhancement: Implement new processes into production efficiently and within budget constraints. Drive continuous improvements aimed at cost reduction and minimizing reliance on expensive components. Enhance yields for products facing processing challenges without inflating unit costs. Ensure consistent delivery of quality products to internal stakeholders. Complete projects and tasks punctually, accompanied by thorough technical documentation.
  • Manufacturing Process Support: Maintain current processes in designated areas according to established specifications. Develop and assess standard operating procedures while training operators. Collaborate with suppliers to validate new materials for processes. Provide technical assistance for assembly projects and broader company initiatives. Address production issues promptly to guarantee timely product delivery. Proactively respond to problem notes within your area of expertise. Design and implement process equipment for improvements. Achieve quality targets while adhering to cost objectives. Assist in drafting Engineering Change Notices (ECN) for existing products. Offer customer support for manufacturing-related challenges.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred).
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in manufacturing with a focus on process control methodologies.
  • Over 5 years of direct experience in manufacturing process engineering.
  • Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with advanced production technologies and process evaluation/testing.
  • Labview and/or PLC programming experience is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Solidworks or similar 3D modeling software is required.

Skills
  • Hands-on experience in developing and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to work methodically, safely, and with attention to detail.
  • Proven capability to meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks and effectively communicating with management and clients.
  • Strong computer programming and data analysis skills.
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced understanding of mechanical or electronic principles, components, and operations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Interpersonal skills to engage with a diverse range of personalities and disciplines.
  • Experience in creating and/or following assembly process documentation for various assemblies incorporating optical, mechanical, and electrical components.
  • Familiarity with operating fiber splicers and cleavers.

Working Conditions
Work is conducted in a cleanroom manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements
Ability to sit and/or stand for an 8-hour shift. Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Safety and Quality Responsibilities
All employees must adhere to the site EHS procedures and corporate EHS standards. Depending on the location, this position may involve responsibilities related to the execution and maintenance of ISO 9000, 9001, 14001, and/or other applicable standards relevant to the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
