The Timken Company is seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Manufacturing Engineer to enhance our manufacturing capabilities. This role is pivotal in supporting the design and production of our innovative product line.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement CNC programming and detailed process plans for precision machining.
- Specify and introduce workholding and cutting tools essential for manufacturing operations.
- Create and maintain comprehensive process documentation including routings and work instructions.
- Establish standard work practices and time standards for machining and assembly tasks.
- Define inspection methodologies and address quality-related issues effectively.
- Provide ongoing support to the production floor to ensure operational efficiency.
- Train personnel on manufacturing methods and processes to enhance skill sets.
- Lead initiatives for production launches and process improvements.
- Support the specification and deployment of new equipment and processes.
- Utilize LEAN manufacturing principles to optimize workflow and minimize waste.
- Apply data-driven techniques to reduce costs and enhance quality, including FMEA and SPC methodologies.
- Employ statistical methods for troubleshooting and conducting root cause analysis.
- Manage New Product Introduction (NPI) projects effectively.
- Collaborate with product design teams to ensure manufacturing processes align with product requirements.
- Engage in problem-solving discussions within a team environment.
- Foster a positive team atmosphere and encourage continuous improvement.
- Identify opportunities for enhancements across the Harmonic product line.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a precision machining environment.
- At least 3 years of experience operating both manual and CNC production machines.
- In-depth knowledge of various machine tools including lathes, mills, and grinders.
- Familiarity with gear manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Experience in process, tooling, and fixture design.
- Strong programming skills for 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC machines, preferably in ESPRIT.
- Proficient in precision inspection methods and equipment.
- Strong capabilities in CAD software such as SolidEdge or SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of industry standards including DIN, SAE, and ASTM.
- Understanding of quality systems and LEAN initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with a strong commitment to project completion.
- Experience in designing and manufacturing strain wave gearing and components is preferred.
